World Power Show

As summer approaches, the year is starting to hot up with fitness events and I am excited to have been asked to attend The World Power Show as a featured blogger. The event, taking place July 2nd-3rd at the Excel Centre London, looks set to include a seriously diverse line up; from Parkour, to Bodybuilding, Powerlifting to Calisthenics, and I’m really looking forward to witnessing some serous skills and trying out new training styles over the weekend.

As a calisthenics enthusiast and coach, a highlight of the event for me is going to be the first World Power UK Calisthenics competition (hosted by BarMob) and to top it off, one of the biggest names in the game, Frank Medrano is making his first UK appearance as a judge.

I won’t be entering the calisthencs comp myself, but I will definitely be hitting the bars at some point over the weekend…it would be rude not to especially as I’m hoping to bump into friends and faces from the community.

If you have ever wanted to try out calisthenics, please come along and give it a go….there will be plenty of us about to show you the ropes so don’t be afraid to say hi get on the bars! !!

To get more of an idea of the line up, with names being announced each week, head to the The World Power Show website and keep an eye out for the interview with yours truly coming soon. I’ll make sure I post it up on here too.

During the build up to the event and over that weekend I’ll be covering the action, so stay tuned for more info, interviews and videos coming your way!!

Last but not least, the World Power team have kindly given me a 20% discount code for any of you lovely readers wanting to join us for a weekend of fitness fun… You can book here and use WPSDESP at the checkout…

Hope to see you there…

Thank you for reading…If you have enjoyed this post please share and spread the fitness love…

Join the Tribe

034_WUS_19_06_14_IMG_1712 Last month I wrote a piece titled ‘Reclaim your Body’ – The message? To live healthfully and not chase the next fad or trend; to celebrate in your uniqueness, whatever your shape or size and to train and eat well, not because you hate your body but because you LOVE your body!

This is something I feel very strongly about when it comes to female fitness and health; with so many mixed messages, unrealistic images in the media and weight loss pills flying about, so many people I speak to, simply feel lost in it all!

As I am writing this, there is a report on the radio about a young girl who tragically died from taking too many diet pills. This upsets and angers me…Firstly because people are creating these toxic & dangerous pills to sell and secondly because a young girl has become so insecure about her body at a young age that she felt she had to take extreme measures which cost her, her life.

Something needs to change and I want to affect positive change as directly as possible in the hope that it can make a difference to the way that women see and train their bodies… 032_WUS_19_06_14_IMG_1707 055_WUS_19_06_14_IMG_1835 So, as I head into chapter two of my freelance PT life, I am excited to launch Frankie Holah’s Bootcamp.

From the beginning of June in South London, you will be able to attend female only sessions based around using your own bodyweight to help improve your fitness and health…. Whatever your shape, size or fitness level, come and join the tribe, get empowered and reclaim your body!! 027_WUS_19_06_14_IMG_1622 Locations will include Brixton and Clapham with morning and evening sessions available – If you would like to come along, please register your interest by emailing frankie@frankieholah.com and keep an eye on my social media @frankieholah for confirmed days and times!!

Sharing is caring. If you enjoyed this post, please share and spread the message. Thank you for being a part of the journey! x

Train About Town

IMG_2356-0
On Tuesday night I joined a group of thirteen bad ass women and we took to the streets of East London to Train about Town!

IMG_2389
Lead by the Mancunian Motivator, Terminator that is Jane Anderson, the one hour session was filled with squats, slaloms, sprints and planks of joy… Kicking off at the Lexie Sport pop up store in Old Street station we got warmed up and headed off on our trail with cheers of enthusiasm, much to the commuters confusion.

The goal of Train About Town was to show that you don’t need to be holed up in a gym to get fit – the city can literally be your gym and your playground if you let your imagination run free.

So now you can look at a flight of steps and think ‘Ahhh they’re not just any steps, they’re the steps of destiny…’
Sprints, lateral squats, press ups, squat jumps – so much potential and so much fitness fun to be had!

Barclays bike stands? Or a Slalom session… The possibilities are endless!

After East London had Witnessed the Fitness it was time to head back to Lexie where we were greeted with goodie bags of delight, stashed with Vita Coco and Bounce Balls for refueling our bods.

Move, Nourish, Believe

Last Thursday I headed out early doors (morning coffee in hand) to attend the launch of the Lorna Jane Fit Challenge and Clean Eating recipe book. Despite being a tad tired from a serious leg session the night before, I was buzzing for the morning (virtual) workout as it was being lead, live from Australia by the one and only Kayla Itsines, Instagram super trainer and owner of a seriously killer bod and enviable all year round tan!

When it comes to fitness, health and lifestyle I am all about the no fads approach (diet is a swear word to me) and so it is mega refreshing when such a well-known active wear brand and fitspo, collaborate to promote such a positive message for women everywhere… Move, Nourish, Believe!

Which is exactly what we did that morning… We MOVED… put through our paces by Kayla we all participated in a 30 minute HIIT (‘you’ll keep doing this until Kayla says STOP!’) session which resulted in a lot of sweating & laughter! We NOURISHED… After the workout I don’t think I could have necked the green smoothie by Honestly Healthy any faster ahhhhh alkaline goodness… My bod needed it – yum! And we BELIEVED… I believed I could push through all of the jump squats after leg day and that every burpee, crunch and press up was possible because the motivation and great vibes of the morning gave me the push I needed.

I am also a lover, ok addict, for new kit and the new Lorna Jane Spring/Summer 2015 collection didn’t disappoint… You can get your paws on it at House of Fraser NOW and my favourite piece from the lot was this bright orange sports bra… Oh so beaut!!!

I_9326221306907_50_20150112I_9326221306907_52_20150112

So you can don your new kit and get involved with the virtual Kayla workout by signing up to the challenge here – its freeeeeee… If our session was anything to go by, you are going be getting your sweat on!

And because nutrition is such a huge part of a healthy lifestyle, Lorna Jane has created her Clean Eating recipe book…(the pictures make you want to lick the pages) full of delicious food to NOURISH that body of yours.

“Clean eating isn’t about restricting or denying yourself; it’s about treating your hard-working body with the love and respect it deserves” *Air high five’s LJ!!*

What a positive, sweaty and stylish way to kick off 2015… Ladies, make this the year you decide to MOVE your body, NOURISH your body and BELIEVE in YOU!!! It’s not a fad…it’s a lifestyle!!

Street Workout

Woohoo!!! The participants for the first ever female Street Workout World Championships have been chosen, and guess what…I will be representing the UK…Yikes!

To say I’m a little nervous is an understatement but I am also extremely excited, not only to take part but also meet so many other strong women from all over the World who are a part of the Street Workout community.

It is such a positive step to create an event like this just for women and I know the weekend is going to be a melting pot of inspiration. I am genuinely honoured to be a part of the competition and can’t wait to show the world what us girls have got!

The next month will see a whole lot of training and it feels really great to have the next goal set… *determined face on*!

Follow Pull Ups & Peanut Butter and be a part of the journey!.

I’d like to send a big shout out to the fabulous Vanna Chiovanna, 24sevenbarz and the WSWCF for hosting and also to all of the other competitors… can’t wait to see you there!

Salute!
